Justien Grillet - PT

Hello, my name is Justien Grillet, and I work as a personal trainer at Re-Treat. In addition to a degree for this job, I also hold a degree in physiotherapy and have 10 years of top-level sports experience in athletics, mainly in sprinting/hurdles.

My passion for this profession

As a young athlete, I was quickly immersed in the world of coaching and strength training. All with the aim of making my body as strong as possible to perform well, and I loved it! But those performances only happened if there were no injuries, so injury prevention in the form of physiotherapeutic examinations and functional tests was very important. During this process, as an athlete, you really get to know your body. You learn how you move and how to work on your own running posture. But you also get to know your "weak" points because not everyone has the same profile, resulting in being confronted with injuries, and then it became interesting for me. "What are my weak links?" "How can I link that to my running posture?" "How can I analyze that?" "How can I link it to my previous injuries?" And so on. Unfortunately, I myself got caught up in a chronic injury story as an athlete, almost living in the exercise room of a physiotherapy practice. A difficult period in my life, but in hindsight, also a very instructive one. I could observe many patients and their specific ways of moving, realizing that everyone is actually their own puzzle. And with some puzzles, you need more patience than with others, or it's a higher level of difficulty, but ultimately, the puzzle can always be solved.

What I want to achieve with coaching

I want to help others create their own puzzle. Because living healthy and starting strength training can sometimes feel very overwhelming today. "Where do you start?" "With what do you start?" "Can my body handle strength training?" "Am I not going to overstrain myself?" "Do I need to squat 100kg to run fast?" I want to help people find their own way in this, regardless of where they are starting from. We lay down one puzzle piece at a time. And I do this very gladly by combining my degree in physiotherapy with the specific programming of strength training.
